It looks like I'm going to be too distracted to write a little while longer. Earlier today I had a CT scan to make sure my kidneys are free of stones, which they are. But I just got a call from the doctor to report something else they found; a cyst on my right ovary.
She stressed that it is benign and has been there since I was formed in the womb. Have any of you ever ready Stephen King's "The Dark Half"? The main character absorbed his twin while he was still in his mother's womb. Apparently this is what the cyst on my ovary is. Had things gone differently, I might have had a twin.
Anyway, she feels it should come out and will be in touch about setting up the procedure. This is freaking me out a bit because I have never had surgery of any kind. And I'm feeling weirded out by the fact that I might have been carrying what might have been my twin for my entire life.
So, although part of me wants to continue my current game and write about Aeronwen's progress, I don't think I can get into my characters' mindsets until this situation is dealt with. I'm just too...gosh I don't even know how to describe it.
I'll likely post more about this when we have more information about how to proceed.
