I'm wondering if I should use some other race mods for the female characters. While I'm very happy with how the three male Bosmers look, the two female Bosmers and the female Dunmer...not so much. I can't seem to make them pretty enough.

For Sarasvati, I'm considering using Korana's n Dywyl mod. It might work if I can lighten the skin to be a more Dunmer gray than a Drow dark gray. Some of the eye colors are red, so if the skin can be lightened it might work.

For Alandis and Vendyne I'm considering the Moonshadow Elves. Depending on what settings are available, they might pass for female Bosmers. I've tried and tried to fix Alandis' and Vendyne's faces but they just keep coming out so angular and harsh. I suppose I could even try to make them with the Hidden Elf race since that's already installed.

As I mentioned, I've made copies of the mod I made last night, so if anything goes wrong I can go back to that copy.

Lesson learned; don't just sit down at the computer and make changes to a mod after being out all day getting supplies that we can't get locally.

I had added Vendyne and Alandis to the mod, but forgot to open Wyre Bash first and change the mod's dependencies back from the esps to the esm. As a result the mod became sickly and was yellow in the Wyre Bash list. It would play, but the children don't display correctly.

Version 2 will be made from scratch. This is not as bad as it sounds. I know how to quickly make all the CM companion NPCs, then it's a simple thing to import the faces from each of the player files and copy those face settings to each character. I can redo the whole mod in less than an hour.

The characters should be put in a different interior cells since the Floating Bowl became too crowded for all of them.

Once again it shows just how delicate and fussy the Oblivion CS is compared to the Morrowind toolset.

Edited to add: The NPCs are all redone already. Mostly. They are in the Partners and Player faction and have starting items in their inventories. Now it's the matter of importing the appearances and pasting them to each character.

So again, doing Version Two isn't as bad is it sounds.

This is unbelievable. I successfully added Sarasvati, Juniper, and Eribor to the Clever Prank mod. They are now standing alongside Thorinor in The Floating Bowl. And the CS NEVER crashed. Not one single time.

I suppose I may also add Alandis and Vendyne, but will likely not add their children since the mod would then start adding a lot of NPCs. When Basnik and Brolmir and their wives are around I'll likely just roleplay that there children are over across the border in Valenwood visiting with their grandparents, aunts and uncles and other cousins.

Quite a few times I wondered why things couldn't have been this easy when I made the mods that added Neldor, Calonir and Cariel, but the fact is I know why; those were my first Oblivion mods. I've learned a few tricks since then which made it much easier to create Thorinor and his family.

Edited to add: Oh my goodness, these character were meant to be a part of the Oblivion story. After finishing the mod that adds Thorinor and family I started wondering , "But where are they going to live?"

Millstone is too small for guests. Once Aeronwen and Neldor obtain Highwood and do the Siren quest they will have a guest house, but I don't know when they would get over.

One option of course is that Aryc allows them to stay at Red Rose Manor, but that's not exactly close to Millstone. So I started browsing mods. I figured a big fancy estate wouldn't really work since the Jackle-Thorn family isn't looking for a permanent home. They don't want to be tied down with farm animals and vineyards since their primary home is still on Vvardenfell.

Then I found this: Carahs Caravan Redux. This is SO adorable and one of the locations isn't very far from Millstone and Waterlily. Thorinor and Sarasvati could sleep in one wagon while their children sleep in the other.

It looks like there might be an overlap with Waterlily, but if so it shouldn't e too hard to move the camp over a bit.

Dalonir's head is going to explode when he finds out that Jackle-Thorn has returned to Cyrodiil.

Edit #2: Just checked. No overlap. :) They're close, but not overlapping.

I've been mixing and matching the new pieces from the Goddess Shop mod and I love this look. This is my new autumn desktop wallpaper; a golden haired elven lady riding a gold horse through the Gold Coast.

Alassiel was a fun character, but Aeronwen really looks great on a palomino.

Neldor is right; she doesn't look very happy. Beautiful but not very happy.

Not expecting to find much, I've been looking through clothing mods trying to find items that would work with the twins. Calonir can occasionally get away with wearing vanilla clothes, but Cariel cannot since most shirts and dresses make her look like she has cleavage. They have some clothes that came with Children of Oblivion, but there isn't much variety.

I decided to give Overalls and More a try and am quite pleased with the results. The mod includes quite a few overalls and shirts that don't make Cariel look like she has an adult female's figure. All items can be mixed and matched to create a large variety of outfits which are suitable for farm life.

I'm having way,way...WAY too much fun with these new animations. The idea behind this one is that Clever Prank is putting another charity album together and asked Aeronwen to do a duet with Neldor singing "Top of the World". Apparently by this point she is over her stage fright. ;)

I get the feeling that Neldor is having a ball singing with his beautiful wife.

Edited to add: Antlers or no antlers, I'm going to make a "Clever Prank" mod that adds Thorinor, Basnik, and Brolmir. I just have to get some screenies of these guys playing their music. Neldor's outfit for this screen is actually what convinced me since that's how I picture him dressed during concerts.

If making companions wasn't such a headache I would make a mod that adds the other three members of Clever Prank and take tons of screens of them performing.

There was a pose that I saw in quite a few screenshots over at Nexus that showed the player character carrying a basket of carrots. Over and over I looked through the animation category for mods and couldn't find it. Then this evening I came across it by accident, in the Sexy Witch Poses mod. I've seen this mod in the listings but I never thought that the pose I was looking for would be in there. Like the other animation mods I'm using, the poses can be used on NPCs as well as the player.

No this isn't another "Highwood or Millstone? I Can't Decide" entry. I've long accepted that both farms have their positives and negatives. Plus from character standpoints, Aeronwen likes Millstone, Neldor likes Highwood. I just realized that the twins have not expressed a preference, but Auntie Laiwyn has indicated quite strongly to me that she prefers Water Lily Cottage as her home rather than the Fisherman Cottage.

Actually, scratch that about the twins not expressing a preference. Calonir likes Highwood, the more "flashy" farm that's near a large town, while Cariel likes Millstone which is tucked away in a hollow and surrounded by a flowering forest.

Where was I? Ah, the issue with cell respawning. As Oblivion players know, one has to stay out of a cell for 72 game hours for it to respawn. This means that unless the family is away from Highwood for three days, the garden around it will NEVER respawn. With the Millstone garden it's easy to get those crops to respawn; the garden is in its own cell. The characters just stay out of there for three days after they harvest everything. Three days later the garden is once again bursting with fruits and vegetables.

Respawning is also an issue regarding the livestock. If the family wants new sheep, pigs, cows, they have to go away for a while after slaughtering the stock.

The Trade and Commerce store gives the characters an additional reason to travel back and forth between farms and allowing each farm's stock pen and garden to "rest".

So, I'm not fighting my love for both mods. I'm going with it. ;)

On another note, I'll need to talk to my husband and see if we'll get around to installing Skyrim this autumn or winter. It's really hard resisting the urge to write, but I don't want bother with it if I'll be playing Skyrim (a game that has children/family features built into it) in the months to come.

I decided to try Luna's Jammies and was pleased to see that the jammies come in various cup sizes, including one that is nearly flat chested. This means that little Cariel can wear the jammies and not look like she has breasts.

Ready to be tucked in for the night.

Unfortunately they are only visible on female characters, so poor Calonir will just have to wear baggy linen pants at bedtime.

It rained throughout the morning of Day Three so the family spent time indoors at the Lakeside Cottage but luckily the weather cleared after lunch. Aeronwen wanted to go out and gather alchemy reagents and Cariel decided to go with her. Calonir elected to remain at the house with Neldor since he thought it was boring to "wandering around gathering flowers". ;)

The more I play this the more sorry I am that I'm not writing it. Cariel was chattering in my imagination the whole time I had Aeronwen walking around gathering mushrooms and flower petals. The game has a nice, more defined direction. Plus although they are all sorry that Helseth has ordered them out of Morrowind, Aeronwen and Neldor aren't near as stressed since the whole issue of "where are we going to find a suitable home for our family" has already been ironed out.

Game progress so far

As mentioned in an entry or two ago, in the Oblivion game I just started I had the family's official starting point far up in the Valus Mountains next to Kemen. With the time scale set back to five game hours for one real hour, the family made the treacherous ride down the mountain and eventually game to Cheydinhal. They boarded their hoofed animals at the stable for the night before setting up camp a legal distance from the town walls. By that point it was after 6PM so they settled in for a well deserved rest.Read more... )

...along with her little Deputy. ;)

There is no purpose for this screenie other than that I really like this look for them.

lavender_rose: (Default)
A little while ago while I was playing Oblivion I had the family wandering around Cheydinhal and they heard the unfortunate Dunmer Aldos Othran singing. I only do the quest he's involved with while playing on my Tribal Hidden Elf agent since Aldros is meant to die.

I had to laugh as I imagined the twin's reaction to Aldos' singing. They are accustomed to the Dunmer having deep gravelly voices (like Uncle Darkfell), so Aldos' shrill singing would have been beyond strange to them.

Cariel: "Why does that Dunmer sound like that, Mama?"
Calonir: "Is he broken?"

Aeronwen: "I...think he is. Let's just go the other way and let him be."

I realize that the mers in Cyrodiil are "Imperialized" but it's still so jarring to hear the male Dunmers speaking that way, and it's equally jarring to hear female Altmers and Bosmers using the female Dunmer voice.

Surely it would not have cost that much more to have all the regular voice actors on board for this game.
