In order to make the Highwood Farm house suitable for a family of four, I had to turn the bathroom into a bedroom. While I'm glad I was able to make that change, I still felt bad that this little family who values cleanliness lost the means to bathe and take care of...other matters.
When I was adding a fancy bathroom to the Gweden farm house so that guests would be more comfortable, the irony struct me that guests would have bathing matters better than the owners of the farm. So before adding my Highwood Crafting patch to my "live" load list, I made one more change; The Highwood Farm Bathhouse.
The exterior and interior are copies of the Highwood art studio. The building has been placed a short distance from the property's north gate (by the door to the windmill).
The outer area was meant to be a place for the family to leave their dirty laundry. The ornate "laundry hamper" is a cabinet that has been sunk into the floor. Then I started imaging this being a place where clothing that needs mending could be fixed, so I added the basket with spools of thread, needles, yarn and a pin cushion. At that point I ended up adding the crafting sewing kit, spinning wheel, loom, and a container for the wool that they will shear from their sheep. The end result is that the outer room of the building has been made into a sewing room (so I removed the loom and other items from the main house).
Opening the sliding door takes one to the back room. Right inside the door is the wash basin (which has a cleansing effect), the towel rack, and the bathtub (which seats two).
Finally at the back of the room, behind the room dividers, is the privy (complete with a roll of toilet paper). Prior to creating the bathhouse I had added an outhouse near the property, but have deleted it. After all, why would they use the outhouse when they have this?
I imagine that there are still chamber pots inside the house. As young as the children are, their parents wouldn't want them to go outside and walk out to the bathhouse in the middle of the night.
Now with this bathhouse added, I am 99.9% sure I'm done with this patch and ready to officially check it and add it into my game. Now the family has it all. ;)
